Programs in BOSNIA and Herzegovina
As Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to struggle under the twin challenges of its complicated past and an uncertain future, Jusuf’s foundation aims to bring relief to those who need it most.
THE FOUNDATION WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE CRITICAL ASSISTANCE TO ORGANIZATIONS, INDIVIDUALS, AND FAMILIES IN NEED. IT ALSO WORKS TIRELESSLY TO EXPAND ITS REACH AND IMPACT BY PROVIDING LEGAL AID FOR AT-RISK WOMEN AND CHILDREN, ADDRESSING AND COMBATING THE EFFECTS OF POLLUTION AND THE ENVIRONMENT, AND SUPPORTING THE ONGOING NEEDS FOR COMMUNITIES THROUGH SPORTS, EDUCATION, AND ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE.
MAMMOGRAM MACHINE
& PREVENTION PROGRAM
Access to quality healthcare remains limited, especially in rural areas and, in particular, for women. This has prompted Jusuf and Emina to join forces with the United Nations Development Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the regional government in Tuzla, to provide a direct and immediate contribution to combating breast cancer in the region of Tuzla Canto, WHERE THE ACCESS TO CARE FOR THIS DISEASE HAS BEEN LACKING FOR MANY YEARS NOW.
They have provided a private donation for the purchase of a mammography machine for Tuzla. The equipment is deployed to screen for breast cancer, allowing for early detection and treatment of the disease to ensure a positive medical outcome.
Jusuf and Emina’s enthusiasm and generosity prompted the regional government to commit itself to a sizable and comprehensive Breast Cancer Prevention Program, helping spur further public interest and raising awareness of the need for greater investment in detection and diagnostics.
Food Packages
In partnership with local NGO Pomozi.ba AND CROATIAN CARITAS, the Foundation donated food packages to benefit thousands of individuals in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The food went to ten soup kitchens in eight cities in Croatia and three soup kitchens in Prijedor, Janja and Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina that cook meals for the most vulnerable.
In addition, 500 packages of groceries were distributed to families in different parts of BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, from Livno, Glamoč and Bosanski Grahov, through Kupres, Banja Luka and Tuzla to Lukavac and Živinice. The Foundation has partnered with Pomozi.ba several times since its formation in order to respond to immediate and pressing needs in the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The director of Croatian Caritas, Msgr. Fabijan Svalina expressed hope that the generous gesture that connects successful athletes and humanitarian organizations will encourage other public figures to recognize how they can contribute to the well-being of our most vulnerable, often neglected and marginalized fellow citizens.
Covid PPE
In 2020, the Foundation responded to the need for immediate support at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and provided life-saving PPE to hospitals in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
HOMES FOR
SINGLE MOTHERS
HEARING ABOUT THEIR STORIES, JUSUF AND EMINA QUIETLY BUILT HOMES FOR THREE SINGLE MOTHERS AND FAMILIES IN Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Hospital Roof
Jusuf and Emina made a substantial donation to rebuild the roof at the largest hospital near Jusuf’s hometown of Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
COMMUNITY COURT
In partnership with the NBPA, Jusuf and Emina are building a community basketball court in Portland, Oregon to provide a safe place for youth to come together to play basketball. Its proximity to the local youth center will hopefully encourage youth in the area to take advantage of programming the center offers.
WILDCAT SANCTUARY
Jusuf is a lover of cats, both big and small. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation made a donation to feed the big cats at WildCat Ridge Sanctuary.
